Hunter S. Thompson is a cute chocolate labrador. He is very smart, able to learn commands quickly and to open doors, but pretty dumb at the same time (he falls for the fake throw every dang time). Loves eating, fetch, chewing things up, Diane, and Jack…probably in that order. He was excited to get Gillian as his new sister, until she and the spider started picking on his “smart bump”.
Hunter’s new cast photo was pencilled and colored by Chris, and inked by George Freund, a friend at work. George did a good job having never really drawn before!
Gillian McLean is the newest member of the family. She was adopted from a local agency after spending her puppy months in a kennel and then bouncing around a few foster homes. Her last foster home was an underground Doggy Fight Club, where she got her scars. She enjoys hoarding toys, although she doesn’t play with them. She is extremely grateful to be in a real home with a last name, but is still a little nervous. She became fast friends with the spider in her crate, and is able to speak many other species’ languages, which she learned as a pup in the kennel.
Jack McLean is Hunter’s best friend. Although he can be strict at times, Hunter loves him unconditionally. Jack works as a CT Technologist, and is a huge Star Wars and NY Yankees fan.
Diane McLean is Jack’s wife and Hunter’s other best friend. Not as strict as Jack, she has a tendecy to spoil Hunter a little too often, especially when he throws her the puppy dog eyes. She works as a church secretary and is very crafty. As in making things. Although she is pretty smart and clever, too…
Boris the Spider lived under the chair until he was almost vacuumed up. He now lives in Hunter’s crate (that Hunter will not go in), and has become Gillian’s crate. We know very little about Boris, apart from the fact he apparently knows dog commands, complete with the hand motions. And he can whistle a mighty pretty tune. He helped calm Gillian down when she arrived at her new home.
Gunter S. Thompson is Hunter’s twin from an evil “mirror Earth”. His goal is to send Hunter back to the evil world and take his place here, so he can play fetch and get belly rubs. Oh, also to keep existence from getting wiped out across all realities. But mainly for the belly rubs.
Frances (aka Flunky) and Brodie are the dogs that Gillian lived with before getting adopted. They seem to run some sort of doggy fight club, although it seems to be more practice than actual fighting. Frances isn’t the smartest dog around, and she follows Brodie’s orders without question. Deep down, all she really wants is puppies. Brodie is just mean, through and through, although he seems to need a bigger dog to hide behind.
Frohike the crazy squirrel lives in a tree in the McLean’s back yard. Full of conspiracies, he wears a tinfoil hat to keep the aliens..or was it the government…whatever…out of his brain. Dreads the coming of the Fat Cats who are taking over the world. We’re talking twenty pounders, man.
